january's

challenge was pies. more specifically,
pie crusts.
2 a week.
after learning from mom
over christmas break,
i gave it a go.

i made:
2 cherry pies, filling-canned.
2 apple pies, filling-from scratch. much cutting of apples.
1 batch of lime tarts. fail.
1 batch of lolly pies.
2 apple pies, filling-canned.
moms have good ninja skills,
as they
always make things look
much easier than they really are.

some crusts worked well
some didn't.
but the last ones
were closer to delicious.
the hipsters
better beware
because pies
might be the new cupcake.

When Bo asked me who Black Star Monkey was, citing all of your profile, I responded that it was you. "Ohhhhh. That makes sense." hahaa. That's how much we love and remember you!!
I'm glad you posted a comment. I had forgotten you had a blog.

I never have quite gotten the courage to make my own crust. It is really inimidating to me. ha. seriously.

8 pies in 4 weeks. You're a champ! Way to accelerate the old "Practice makes perfect" adage. With this kind of practice even the "mistakes" taste good.

hahah aika you crazy!
the only reason i was ok with trying this all myself was because mom showed me how you roll it out between two pieces of saran wrap....so you don't have to mess with it sticking to the counter or the rolling pin...magic!
