disclaimer: apparently this entry has lots of footnotes.
the other night, on the way downtown to see 'Son of Rambow,'* we went to the drive thru at Jack in the Crack (affectionately, Jack in the Box**) near my house to grab a healthy dinner. We were in a bit of a rush, as we were running a few minutes late. anyways, i sat in the back seat of rn's car and scarfed down approximately one $1 chicken sandwich, a small curly fries, and two dipping packets of BBQ. Needless to say, i did not feel so good when we arrived. I think there was a hole in my throat somewhere and a couple of the curley fries that didn't get chewed long enough (yes, i am un-grownup enough to not always remember to fully chew my food) detoured straight into my heart and plugged up at least three paths into my heart*** ventricles. pretty sure, because i could feel every artery or vein in my upper body struggling. ouchi!
*an excellent flick, lacking the sex drugs and commercial endorsements that so many movies now seem inclined to include--except for the shameless Rambo plugging--i heard Sly himself endorses the film....
**a fun fact: this is the jack in the crack near the (un)Safeway grocery near my house. Which is, in turn near the corner where some guy got shanked a few weeks ago. but my house, the (un)Safeway, and 'the corner' combined can't even triangulate to include all the fun/ghetto activities that happen around that area... it doesn't seem that bad in the daytime, but daang geeena, when night falls, crap goes down. oh yeah, crap goes down.
***a note on hearts--you should read "When Crickets Cry". It is one of the best books. Ever. Probably boys don't like it as much as girls. but if you are a girl OR a boy who is interested in hearts (like real hearts, not mushy curvy fifth grade drawing ones), you should read this book. (thanks liso...)
over. kkkkh.
